 The International Society of Antiquaries

Who we are
The ISA is a learned and multidisciplinary society established in 2018. Members include artists Olivia Baldwin, Kyle Cottier, Elisa Pritzker, and Greg Slick, and archaeologist/artist Jeffrey L. Benjamin. We are committed to:
  • The scholarship and preservation of material culture and sites of historic value
  • Tethering a curious and appreciative audience of laypeople and specialists to the unfolding narrative of the distant past and its bridge to the present
  • Fostering collaboration between artists in all media, esotericists involved in various disciplines, archaeologists, and anthropologists
What we do
The society convenes every so often to present exhibitions of the member artists’ current work, as well as public programs to further the scholarship of art/archaeology. Our ultimate goals are to:
  • Explore essential aspects of humanity through various media
  • Illuminate connections between current phenomena in the arts and ancestral material culture
  • Remove the veils from long-buried cultures and celebrate their mystery
  • Question institutional conventions and assumptions regarding the distant past
Our sigil
The owl, the standing stones, the scale, the flame, and the ouroboros together signify a deep, even mystical, understanding of the archaeological record and humanity's link to the very underpinnings of its civil culture. Our sigil honors the original mystery schools as well as those antiquaries of centuries past who, by pioneering the scholarly study of material culture, eventually paved the way for archaeological fieldwork, documentation, and interpretation as they are practiced today. As artists, our link to antiquarianism is a shared passion to explore what it is to be human and our place in the natural world.
